You would be in an exclusive niche if you wanted this handsome beast on your wall. However Chilean rose tarantulas (Grammostola rosea) are generally docile and calm creatures. They are usually comfortable with gentle handling. Although like other tarantulas, their bite is venomous but not deadly to humans.

Their natural habitat is the desert and scrub regions of northern Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina. They often live underground in burrows and come out to hunt at night.

They have a diverse diet, including grasshoppers, crickets, moths, beetles, cockroaches, mealworms, lizards, and small mammals.

As with all tarantulas, females outlive their male counterparts considerably and can live for 20 years. Once the male has fulfilled his biological function of mating, he will usually die of natural causes if he’s lucky. If he's unlucky the female might eat him!
