This Botanical Optical image is created from a single photograph selected from hundreds of time-lapse photographs of a One-Leaf onion, also known as American garlic or Allium Unifolium made over a period of 224 hours as it flowered.

Native to North America, this is a species of wild onion. It is a compact perennial with delicate clusters of up to 30 fairly large, star-shaped, satiny, rose-pink flowers. Alliums include some of the most ancient cultivated crops, such as garlic, onion, chive, and leek. They are said to symbolise strength, patience, good fortune and prosperity.

Archival pigment print on smooth light gloss Canson Baryta 310gsm art paper.
